“We really do develop her as a character, getting to know her not just as a senator, but as a woman,” O’Reilly said. “[We learn] What is her life like, what does she have to struggle with, what are the dangers to her life, what is the cost of being her. Tony [Gilroy] The writing is very complex and very tight. She lives in this world of espionage and social and political drama type, yet it is set in the universe of Star Wars. O’Reilly said of Blakiston’s original performance, “I’ve always been interested in her, and every time I go to do it, I come back to that scene.” She added, “You can see when Caroline does that in that scene, for me, there was always a pain in the heart of that… You could see that she was in pain, and I was really curious about what it was. What happened in this woman’s life? What did it cost to be her? What sacrifices did she have to make along the way to be the leader of the rebellion?”
“We see her talking to the senators, and then we meet her at home with her husband,” O’Reilly sneered at Andor. “We see the public and the private. We see her literally and figuratively taking off her mantle and revealing herself as a woman in a way we’ve never seen before.”
Gilroy, who co-wrote rogue oneacted as display manager for Andor.
